October 2009 Club Meeting Recap

Hello Club Members,

We just had our October club meeting and there were approximately 20 members in attendance. A great potluck dinner preceded the meeting and the meeting was chaired by Steve Kiley. Here is a recap of this month’s club meeting.

So far this season, there are 951 individual club members, 34 business members and 331 snowmobile raffle tickets sold so far this season. We are off to a great start and there seems to be a lot of enthusiasm for the upcoming season.

There have been several trail repair projects completed and bridge repairs have been done as well. Another big job is trail signing which will begin later this month.

John Bialek, a club member from Connecticut has been named Project & Event Coordinator. John will be helping to schedule work crews/volunteers on upcoming projects and events. John, Kim and their son Michael have volunteered on many club projects like the club house addition, bridge repairs and helping out at the warming hut. If you are interested in volunteering for an event or project, please email John, ct_skidoo@comcast.net .

There are many events planned this season. The first one is the Christmas Craft Fair, scheduled for Saturday, November 28th. Stop by and do a little holiday shopping and bring the kids to see Santa. This is a great fundraiser that the PRRSC typically raises $1,500 for Easter Seals. Helga Ziegler has organized this event for many years and she will need a few helpers on Friday and Saturday with set up at the club house. If you would like to lend a hand, please email Helga, hziegler@wildblue.net.

The New Years Turkey Dinner is scheduled for Saturday, January 2nd. This year we are thinking of possibly having a dance after the dinner. How does that sound to everyone? Let us know what you think. As always help at this event is appreciated.

In case you haven’t heard, Skidoo is running a promotion which the Pittsburg Ridge Runners have the opportunity to make $1,500 and possibly win a snowmobile. Just Click on this link for the details. http://www.ski-doo.com/en-US/Promotions/clubsupportprogram.htm. All we need is 150 members to fill out and submit this form. It’s easy and as club members we all need to do this. It only takes a few minutes.

The USCC Pittsburg race noticed on that organizations website came up for discussion. No final decisions have been made. There are many logistics to look into. It was suggested to have a feasibility committee with club members look into this further. Anyone interested please contact myself or the club office.

There will be five vintage races this year. Talk about excitement! The club ‘vintageers’ have been working hard on an even better racing and events this coming winter. See the event calendar for dates and locations and also the racing series website http://www.thegreatnorthwoodssnowmobilerace.com/ . All you racers out there start your engnes!

Thank you Cindy for these notes.

That’s about it from the Pittsburg Ridge Runners. Think Snow!

Meeting recap!

Great idea to post a recap of the meetings! Also, thank you very much for volunteering to be the event/project coordinator. This is a position (official or un-official) that has been needed for some time.

Since the "official" minutes can't be posted until they are approved at the next meeting, this is a great compromise and hopefully will keep the membership informed of what is going on with the club in a timely fashion.

Keep up your enthusiasm and thank you for the many things you, Kim and Mike have done and are doing for the club.
